My owner hopefully will be enrolling me in FEAT school in Sept.

I love my job and dont feel like I'm working, even in 98F heat, digging 500 feet monotonously for 8 hours, or sweating in an unventilated building running MC. I really love it.

I wanted to say hello to you all and ask a couple questions, do you think FEAT is necessary ( I'm 37 and long outta school ) or that getting a journeymans in a non union state is necessary?

Thanks in advance and sorry for the thread swerve, but it seemed like the thread starters questions had been answered.

Answer to this post in a second.

You posted in another thread that you "terminate a lot of transformers for OUC here in Cen FL", then you asked questions about secondary voltage. Your post on that other thread generated some questions for me.

Q1-do you work for OUC?
Q2-did you terminate the primary and secondaries of those transformers? Bet the answer is 'yes'.
Q3-why were you returning to the site of your transformer install to check the voltage? Are you a saint, or did you have a call back?

Q1 was answered in this post..
Q2 is still open.
Q3 is still open.

It appears that you work for one of the 'bottom feeding' contractors that we central Florida locals know and love, who beat us 'fair bidding contractors' out of projects all of the time, and we wonder how they do it

"My owner" hopefully will be enrolling me in FEAT school in Sept. The key words here are "My owner". That guy has an employee who is terminating OUCs transformers, and installing OUCs site lighting, and he "hopefully will be enrolling me in FEAT school in Sept". What is wrong with this picture?

"Do you think FEAT is necessary ( I'm 37 and long outta school ) or that getting a journeymans in a non union state is necessary?"

Education anywhere is an asset, regardless of age. Best wishes to you sir.

If I came across to harshly, especially if I am incorrect, I apologize.

Done with this bull****. I wonder why we are so busy, yet so many fuuckers are out of work? Maybe because we do good work? It is a wonder to drive to wasork on 417 or I-4 and pass 10-15 different electrical company vans. Oh yeah, they are the only vans they have. Enjoy part timers. Done with you scabs.
You know I had a big hairy reply to this. Deleted it figure it was a waste of time anyways.

I do get a kick out of these "Master Electricians" that have less than a year in the craft. Having a 4 yr degree has nothing to do with having the skill and knowledge of a licensed FULLY trained journeyman electrician.

Good luck in your chosen field. You will go far with that attitude I am sure.

That said, let me say this...
Don't blame him for the overall standards, or lack thereof, in that godforsaken State. It's not his poker game and they're not his cards, he's just playing the hand he was dealt.
