Default permits

In Texas its the law to pull permits on any kind of electric work. I always pull permits on new construction but not on ceiling fans and smaller remodel work. I just gort my masters in january so before that I couldnt even pull one.

I was wondering what yall think about pulling permits?
And what happens if you get caught without a permit, can you just go get one?

In WA you can do like for like replacement of one applicance, switch... yada yada. Pretty much if you are installing a new circuit, extending one or replacing a large amount of devices or lights you need a permit.

If you are caught here in WA the fines start at about $500.
