Unless your home is getting penalty charges from the power company due to poor power factor the device will not save any money and may actually increase power consumption.

In other words it is a crock of crap.

A few years ago a city had a bunch of them installed in one of their pump houses. We laughed when we saw them.

Chris, that may have actually been one of few legitimate uses for these things. Maybe they actually needed to correct their power factor?

They had two #14 leads attached to the line side of the service and the device the leads were attached to was about the size of a hockey puck. Definetly looked suspicious.

I just saw a new one out there from Korea that hawks their ability to turn the wiring in your house into "super conductors" and thus remove all IR losses in the conductors. It does this by emitting energy waves into the wiring or some such bovine excrement. A group in Texas is actually suing them for fraud! I hope they win, but we all know it would be a hollow victory even if they do. While legitimate professionals scoff at them, they are making bank by scamming the vast majority of people who are desperate to stem the tide of rising energy costs but too ignorant of electrical principals to know these things are all scams.

It's a crying shame.

I have had one on my system for over a year now. It seems to not save any money on my bill but does not cost more to have it there because of the way I have isolated it. I believe it may save the utility somewhat as others have said here on this forum. I installed it as an experiment. It cost me about $60.00 to build it.
