Rust
Just looking for some tips. I just bought a used work truck that has two well built side boxes. It doesn't rain in them but my tools and drills are covered with moisture every morning. They seem to seal well but I am in south Louisiana where the heat won't get you but the stupidity will I mean humidity.

Keep several open camphor cakes (not PDCB urinal tablets) in each side bin. The gas that comes off them keeps tools from rusting. It's a trick machinists have used for generations.

Try a wool blanket under the tools.
Spray with WD-40 lightly now and then. Keep an old oil wiping rag in each bin.
Don't use the wool if it leaks in the rain.

Thought that might help myself. But nope they are sealed tight. I know it's the change in temp overnight causing it.

Soaking in vinegar overnight will force a patina that is rust resistant. I do that to my hunting knives.

I thought you said don't use the tools if it rains. Had to read twice. Thought you might have been a wielder. Rain out.

The warmer day air probably has more moisture than cold air so when it cools down at night the air will loose some moisture in the form of a dew settling on your tools.

It is unbearably hot and humid at night here.
The late afternoon rains create a layer of fog.

You know now that you say that I did stand there like an idiot at lowes and watch a video on their tool boxes that prevents rust using vapors from some fancy sounding trade marked chemical x.

There's our million dollar idea. Camphorated tool box liner mats.

Wouldn't be any worse than storing them in your truck boxes from the sounds of it

What it sounds like to me, is you're having a slight buildup of condensation from the air temperature differences.
Try getting some foam 4x8 sheets and cutting them to fit inside the enclosures. Glue them in with liquid nails or something similar.
