Service Call today
I did a friend a favor who recently bought a house and couldn't seem to figure out how these (2) coach lamps turned on. The house is over 100 years old. I removed the fixtures and this is what I found.

I had a somewhat similar experience a few years ago.
I was sent to a rock crushing plant that another EC had completed, but the plant had not yet been started. It sat dormant for about a year, and when they tried to start it, the Jaw crusher and its belts/feeders had no power.
The jaw was about 1200' from the control house, and a 4" PVC was run along the conveyers up to it. There were 24X24X6 3R cans about every 300', and 500 CU spliced in each of them. Crimp splices and heat-shrink.
It took a bit to figure it out, but the wire from the breaker went about 10' into the conduit, and the ends were taped off. The splice boxes were the same way.
The original EC was nowhere to be found.

I had a receptacle in a wall the HO asked me to check-- no wires. Inspector must have asked the ec to add one so he did-- I guess he forgot to tell him to make it hot.

Not totally related, but:
Years ago I did a service upgrade/kitchen rewire and met with the ahj for the inspect.
After he signed it off, I followed him out the front door. When I closed (slammed) the door behind us, the coach light and box fell and was dangling by 4' of wire.
He kept walking, never looking back and never noticed.

Service call today to a repeater site. The only way up the mountain his time of year is sled.
The guy I was with drove his sled up and over the trailer and took out the rear door of his (my old) service van. I didn't get a photo, he felt so bad that I just could not make his day worse by snapping pictures. This is his second time driving a snowmobile and was just mortified.
Here is my new sled up at the site.

I have an apartment complex I help out with from time to time. They have their own maintenance guys.
Called me to come find out why the exit signs in all the buildings don't work. No power to any of them, and they can't find the breakers.
Would you believe the last EC just mounted the exit signs on the drywall, and never attempted to power them up, and left.
It took years for them to notice.

I don't see any problem, looks like it meets all the California Energy Code requirements.

The regular 4" round (non weatherproof), is also a nice touch.

I would be more concerned with getting rid of that asbestos siding over the wireless electricity
