I installed a new consumer unit today, but when connecting the shower to the rcd and switching the power on,the rcd trips. The wiring is correct so what could the problem be?

Could be anything. You need to disconnect the Shower from the local isolator and test the circuit again. Then test the shower. Insulation tests will indicate the problem for you.

Your help is much appreciated.I rarely do domestic work so don't often encounter problems.I thought better to consult someone before doing something wrong.Does it have to be a megger i use or would the ohms setting on a multimeter be suitable?
