If it's overhead, no insulation at all. Everything is bare, all the way to the bushings.

The highest voltage underground I've ever terminated was 120KV. I don't remember the type of cable, it was about 4/0 or so, and about 3" outside diameter. The terminations were oil filled, about 4' long. They looked sort of like a transformer bushing. It took several hours just to do one of them.

I'm sure they make insulated cable for higher voltages, but I've never seen any.

In the uk the 400kv lines and substations have no insulation on the conductors , the insulators on the support arms are either toughened glass or porcelain.

I used to work the overheads and HV substations , we used to do the insulators on the lines while live.
a helicopter lifted a cage onto the line with a man inside to check them out and maintain them , one thing that always sticks in your mind is that bl00dy great spark that leaps onto the cage from the lines as you get near.

Money was good though.
