With today's insulation and heating system an electric bill should be nowhere near that. My builders just finished a 12000+ sq.ft house and the total utility bill for the house has not been over $300-- that's all utilities.

I've heard of guys working on homes so large that the AC units were small commercial cooling towers and the service was actually switchgear. Never had the privilege of seeing it, though.

Did they own the pad-mount? I'm having trouble envisioning how you could bring 13.8kV into a residence.... "Here's your new home: the bonus room, the pool, and this is the shotgun stick you'll be using every time you blow a primary fuse."

1600 amp 3ph. The owner is old railroad money. The "house" had an elevator and the reading room on the third floor the windows rolled down. Crazy place, my first coffee break there I got lost.

The one I did was for a developer, he lived near Liz Taylor, The Kennedy's and Arthur Godfrey in MiddleBurg VA.

He later did 3 years in jail for tax evasion.
