Unhappy Can't find work in Chicago...

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone who is located in the Chicago area knows anyone hiring. I have been laid off due to lack of work and have not been able to find steady work in over a year.
My main focus is residential service work. I am an excellent troubleshooter. This housing crunch has forced many of my former employers to downsize dramatically and caused many others to do the same.
I have just been getting by with "side work" but I really want/need the stability of a full time job.
HELP!!!

gonna be tough man. I live near there and I know it is pretty dead. You should get your license and contract your own work

Best of luck though!

It's SUPER tough... I would contract my own but finding the work is the hardest part.
Advertising is too expensive, especially when your broke and word-of-mouth runs out after a while.
Data/Comm companies are hiring, but are telling me I am overqualified and basing it on my previous salary history. I leave it out whenever I can so it isn't an issue but it eventually gets brought up.
I guess it don't matter who's hiring...it only matters if they hire me!

Default Resi

I never did get sucked up in the bad talk about resi. I knew some and they talked over my head alot. I just never realized it's a whole new world. I worked my buns off for 8 yrs now and realize I don't know squat!! I'm great at running conduit, pulling, installation of everything, basically all new stuff. Never had to trouble shoot, cut plaster, fish wires, be nice to people, be clean, give fixed prices (I still don't know what to charge), etc... It's almost like I'm brand new again
