Default Nutone system screeching

Demolition guys ripped out a Nutone station in the bathroom and now the system is making crazy noises. Its a flat ribbon cable. I don't know anything about these things. There are eleven stations in the house. Are they all fed back to the master?

The old wire might be close to electrical circuits.. you need to be 12" away or it will hum like Monica..

make sure the cables aren't shorted together, too. (cut/splice or abandon). you can download the nutone installation instructions online somewhere that explain everything and has wiring diagram. they are all supposed to be homeruns to the stations

I repaired ours by replacing all the old caps. It was just screaming after a thunderstorm. You could hear the radio but it was a chore to do.

I'd definitely abandon the cable; do it at the master. Ie, disconnect the cable that used to go to that station.

Replacing the caps would improve audio quality and might fix other problems as well , if your keeping the system i would recommend doing to if you good with electronics
