Thumbs up Hello From Vidor Tx

Hello, I live in Vidor Tx. During the past 42 years I have gone from an apprentice under my father, to Journeyman, Field Engineer, Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Offshore Chief Electrician, Maintenance Supervisor for the Largest Drilling Contractor. I have worked in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Louisiana, Middle East, South east Asia, North Sea, Caspian Sea, North and West Africa and just about every region where Oil and Gas industry has operations.
I hold currently an Associates of Science Degree, Texas Master's Lic, New Mexico Master's Lic,
I have been working in the Offshore Drilling Industry for 20 years.
I hope I can help with answering some questions and you can help answer some of mine. I have always been a student of the Electrical, Instrumentation, Computer industries.
I have viewed many other Blog sites, but this one appears to be very interesting.
My motto is "A question not asked is a question without an answer that you do not know".

Vidor? They need to get rid of that town altogether, merge it with Beaumont or something.

For the folks on here that don't know Vidor is one of Texas' dark secrets, the last of the remaining racist towns down south.

Nothing against you yourself OP, you seem highly educated and well traveled and versed with culture and welcome to the site and all but Vidor? Eh eh. Burn that town to the ground.

I'm in Houston, btw.

Default Pay in Middle East

The pay was good, however, the pay is basically the same in all areas of the world in the Drilling Industry.
Otherwise you have to watch who you are working for, what the perks are and what the tax issues will be. Also have to watch for the contractual time on and time off. I my case I work 28 days on and 28 days off.

Roadhouse.
While in Houston traffic, crime and related unfriendliness in Houston, I could say the same for Houston. Burn it down and start all over again.
Actually Vidor is a good place to live where your teenagers still Cruise Main Street on the weekends and people are friendly.
P.S. the issue with the KKK have been long gone since I have lived here - 20 years
