Default hi its finally sunny here in Vancouver bc

Hi all,

I found this site by researching what are the most liked tools in the industry.
I am having a hard time choosing what linemans pliers to pick up.

Can you help me to decide?

KLEIN journeymans or
Knipex 09 12 240 http://www.knipex-tools.us/index.php...7&groupID=1362

I am currently in school taking a security system technician course.
It involves alarm systems, access systems, surveillance systems. Mostly low voltage stuff except when we tap into a 120v branch circuit.

I have to agree with Cletis's brother, Harry, that klein does make the best pliers in the industry, hands down the best!!!

I'm a fan of Klein Tools lineman's pliers, simply because I haven't used anything else. I'll be picking up a pair of the Knipex, however, as soon as I spot them hanging on the rack. I picked up some Knipex side cutters and Cobra channel-locks already, and I'm quite impressed with the quality of both. Never had to deal with a warranty for either, but I'd take that into consideration as well.

Good to meet ya, Russ. Always nice to see another Canadian face on here.

It's true. My third day on the job, I asked to borrow a pair of side-cutting pliers from my journeyman. He gave me... side cutters. Which, in fact, are correctly known as diagonal-cutting pliers. I also asked for a #2 Robertson screwdriver, which is actually more commonly known as a #8.

Now, they're lineman's pliers, or Kleins. And side-cutters, not diagonal-cutting pliers. And #8 Robertsons. Just keeps things simpler. Easier for me to re-learn the language than a guy who's been speaking it for 30 years.

Kenny there was a teacher at the local that would took off points the apprentices grade for calling them Kleins. He wanted them called 9" linemen's pliers.

I have tried Channellocks, Sears (was an emergency purchase) and always went back to Kleins.

Default Klein or Knipex

I have had both, and I prefer the Knipex. I think it comes down to your personal preference man. Quality on both is about the same. I will say though if your tools are exposed to any weather some of the Knipex stuff comes stainless steel plated, and doesn't rust.

Hi turtle
I just bought some knipex tape pulling/crimping linesman pliers.

I read in quite a few places that the kliens are not what they used to be.

And all my other tools are orange so I had to be color coordinated :-)

Both are good buys but I prefer Klein myself.
