Are you kidding.....You will make a fortune as a dentist. why would you go backwards..... and work with your back... electrical work is backbreaking work...What do you think we do..? put in lights and outlets all day.
I only wish I was back in college..I would kill to be doing "smart people" work. My problem is I got off track when I was in school (university)Now that I'm older and wiser i see the fault of my ways. I dropped out of college in my 3rd year, changed careers in my late 20's, and now that I'm a electrical contractor I realize i better start making some real money before my back, knees and balls go.......
Stay in school, buckle down. Stop thinking like the grass is greener. If you want I can come up there and smack some sense into you.....(i mean that in a nice way BTW)
Do your self a favor and tighten your belt, make a BIG pot of coffee and study your ass off. Your studying a perfect recession proof occupation.

Electrician......? there's only thousands of guys out of work now....but sure why not....... come on man......smarten up. As a dentist you will NEVER be out of work.

I do like to work with my hands, but I rarely get to do that here.

I have been thinking of a career in a skilled trade, like being an electrician as a possible alternative. I have been looking at a local union website (if you are interested) : http://www.electricalapprenticeship....ine/index.html

Anyways my question is what is life like for you? How does your day go from start to finish? What is your main complaint as an electrical worker? How much difference is there between an electrician that works for construction and maintenance vs. a low rise residential person? Is it satisfying? Did you always know what you wanted to do with your life? Do you have a family? Do you have financial security?

Sorry for the length, but I am at my wits end with this "university life" and I am trying to look at all my options. Any other tidbits of wisdom will not fall on deaf ears.

Thanks,

Kyle from Canada Eh!
Not a day goes by that I am not glad to go to work. I have worked construction, extensively, and now am in maintenance. It's all good if you enjoy your work. You do have to study, and it feels good to learn. Along the way, people will let you know that you are special because not everyone can do this work consistently... and safely.
