I have heard that electricians in the states are very specialised, e.g a lighting sparky, a power outlet sparky or an industrial sparky, is this true

Not really. We tend to work in specialized sectors, though. Residential, commercial, industrial.....

He meant Australians, (Aussies) not asses, which this site has plenty of
