Default Howdy from central Washington

Hello all. New to the site and excited to be a member. I have had a balanced mix of working construction and maintenance. I have traveled most of my life and think I have finally settled down. I am now working at a mostly optimized sawmill running SLC 500 RS Logix 5000 and some Micrologix. Been a pretty fun ride so far.

Welcome neighbor . I thought the mill in Morton had closed a few years ago, good for you that it didn't . Beautiful country up there! What are you guys running now?

Business is good in the NW if you have the OP's skill set.

Thanks for the welcome. We do strictly cedar fencing. There is another mill that just opened back up in town from the roof collapsing last year, but they do dimensional lumber. Getting ready to install an optimized board grader and sorter. Business sux at the moment, but upper management wants to be able to hit the ground running when the economy picks back up.

Those optimizers are quite the machine to watch when they are dialed in right . Have you gone up to St. Helens yet?

Been there a few times Ray, and Rainier. We have three other optimized machines and I had been pretty involved in the calibrations until I got my new shift. I was on the weekend crew until one of our guys decided his extra curricular activities were more important than the drug screenings. I am not thrilled about swing shift, but it could be a lot worse!!!! lol

Nice . I wasn't able to get up there this year, no wonder I don't feel quite right , gotta get to the hills to keep things in perspective .
From here it looks like you guys are probably getting hammered pretty hard by the weather today.
I know one of the mills there used to be a union shop, is that the one you are at?

I understand how you feel Ray about getting to the hills. I moved to Montana from PA in 93 and have not grown tired of the mountains yet. But I also like the view in your neck of the woods too. Spent some time there when I was working on overhead cranes. That was a cool job!!
