Default Montclair

Hey everyone, I'm new to this site. I have been doing electric work for about eleven years now, I recently got my license. I am doing a job in Montclair and I put in a trough as a hot box to split off to two meters. I originally had a 2" waterproof SEU connector for the 200 amp service wire coming in. The inspector told me he wanted a hub. I put a 2" meter hub and he said he wants proof that this method is acceptable to use. I can't seem to find literature on it. Any suggestions?

It is his job to tell you why it is not acceptable.
And welcome to the forum.

Unless this trough had the provisions for a meter hub (which it likely did not) then this is NOT an acceptable method. He should have told you this.

You cannot simply punch out for a connector in the top of a weatherproof trough. You DO need a meyers hub.

Good luck with that one.......Bob is one of the toughest inspectors around, and by far the toughest I ever had to deal with. Basiclly if you dont buy it the way its intended to be used, good luck. He wants manufacureres specs on everything. I dont think your gonna find anything that says the trough is intended to be used that way......
He knocked me down for putting a cord on a dishwasher. And I told him I had been doing that for years and To me it was standard procedure. But he said unless the manufacurere lists the cord as an accessory your gonna fail... And technically he is 100 percent right. I thought I was doing good by this but he told me hardwire it and install a breaker lock.
He also busted me for installing a bonding bushing in a meter pan. He told me PSEG doesnt like anything in their equipment.. To which my replie was "I didnt realize you work for them too.."
If you want some good advice....When you deal with BoB make sure its all yes sir and no sir. There is no point in arguing with him because your not gonna win.
He is basically asking you to find something that doesnt exist....Hence your not gonna win unless you do something else like using an side by side overhead meter stack of two meters..... Sorry dude...
