Default moving back to vermont!

Hello everyone,

I am currently 22 and looking for a career change. I live in MA but am going to be moving back to my home state of Vermont in a year. I can't wait! I have done a ton of research on this field and have decided it is something I want to pursue. I will be applying to the local 300 jatc. I understand the whole process of getting into an apprenticeship can take a while. Even though I currently live in MA can I still head up to VT and apply/take any tests needed? so by the time I do move to VT I might be accepted?

Also, does anyone know if there is still good outlook for VT electricians? are they swamped with apprentice applications?

I appreciate any help or information you all might have.

Hopefully one day I will be part of the brotherhood.

- Greg

Welcome to the group. Don't be in a rush, patience will pay off. Maybe look for some part time hours in an electrical supply house or with an open shop to learn some terminology and get a tad of experience under your belt. Even when times are bad the locals have to bring in guys or they would have to stop classes which isn't going to happen.

local 300 is not looking for apprentices. Try just getting your MA state License first. There are a lot of Vermont electricians looking real hard for work.

Welcome to the forum! With the economy the way it is it may take awhile to get into the union. Best of luck though!
