Default Newbie from West Virginia

Hi folks.

After spending 20 years in the Southern California aerospace industry (line aircraft mechanic), I returned to my native southern West Virginia home, attended state college and earned my BS in Electrical Engineering Technology.

I am currently scheduled to attend a nine month accelerated program here in WV for my Journeyman electrical license.

Trying to change careers mid life has been tough, though I hope to use my journeyman license to work my way into engineering position.

Thanks to all of the knowledgeable post here I’m getting a good head start.

Welcome from Fairmont,

I did the 9 month course at Marion County Tech Center. It was very interesting and rewarding. I did it after 30 years in Software Engineering. I currently work for the County School Board. I've thought about the ET thing but would be retired before I graduate (unless they let me test out of a whole bunch of stuff).

Study hard. you only get out of the class what you put in!!

Consider joining WV IAEI (WV section/branch of International Association of Electrical Inspectors) www.wviaei.org. They have a good seminar series twice a year in Dunbar and a three day convention in Ohio each May. You'll get to meet people who write the code and learn a lot.

I didn't even know that people used electricity in West Virginia until I was there on Thursday. I went and picked up some stuff from Lumber Liquidators in Martinsburg.

Oh, welcome to the forum!
