535??? Thats just weird! The word I was looking for was drawl. We would drawl solid #3 down to just about any size needed.

No, the word was drawl. Shrinking large wire into a smaller wire with a pre-press into the size you want. Then it went into a spooler and got put on a reel. Yeah...drawl that was what it was called. Not a typo, weird word I admit but thats what it was called.

I'm not saying that isn't what it was called wherever you were(and i'm not trying to be a jerk!) but doing that is called 'drawing' wire. To draw, past tense drawn. A drawl is a way of speaking, as in 'a southern drawl'

Yep when I came out of the service i was told i had a drawl, cause of all the southern guys i served with. Anyway we called it "drawl" correct or not that was the term. But in retrospect draw does sound better, but right now with a great fire and some friends around.......I'm gonna use drawl cause that sound good!! Good night y'all! !

But they almost have a ".x" as part of the size.

I know that DLO cable has some wacky sizes too. Don't know any of them off the top of my head.

I have used 9/4 and 7/3 both direct burial. Our signal department uses it. No particular reason I suppose, It is solid copper and has a copper jacket fiberglass sheath and a hardish pvc outer sheath. Think wire bending tools and rubber mallets to make it do what you want it to do.

Half gauge, that's wild!
