Default Poll: apprentice school related:

I'm done my 2nd year of schooling now, and I really really enjoyed it.

How many of you enjoyed schooling? I enjoyed schooling far and beyond the actual work I do. It really really makes me think that when I get my journeyman ticket, I'll move on, and be a journeyman in the summers, and go to university the rest of the time.

School is so awesome. I would even suggest that the worst day at school is almost as good as the best day at work.

How many of you enjoyed schooling more than working, and how many of you are in my position of saying "if it was that good, why don't I go back and do something else with my life?"

Maybe I should be an electrical engineer and figure out jobs you'll be doing. And when I mean you, I mean YOU!!! You've been hounding me for a long time, and it would be good fun to ask the impossible.

BTW NAIT has a super-sweet Fluke Clampmeter that measures pf, shows you the sine wave, everything. That's like... a mechanical journeyman right there.

The worst day at work is better than the best day at school, for me.

You're way too stupid to be an engineer, you were born to install insulation, go back to doing that.

From my experience. Associated Builders and Contractors education is a joke.

At least it is in Philadelphia and New Orleans.

One of the more postive things about 1st to 4th at Red Deer College is the nurse's have alot of schooling there , so there's lots of tight young ass walking around a day, and yeah you learn **** like phaser diagrams and power triangles and SCR's Triads's diodes etc and one day if you pay attention you can go back for your master's. But there was no tight young tail when I did my Master's or maybe by that time being married I lost my will power.

Being an electrician isn't the worst job in the world, but you can certainly see the worst job from here.

Lots of people drop out of school and become electricians, but not many drop out of being an electrician to get a phd.The problem is that school doesn't work for everyone. If you landed in a trade, it might not work for you. It isn't that it's bad to not fit into the regime of school. It's just that some of us don't.

The worst day at work is way better than the worst day at school. The best day at school doesn't even come close to the best day at work. Wait, there wasn't a "best day" at school. That said, at -40 with a good stiff wind, being an electrician sucks - just not as bad as being in school.

A well thought out, reasonable opinion!

I've heard that men learn with their hands, and I certainly met a lot of guys in class who just hated school. I wouldn't say they hate learning, but they do hate math!

School is good, more Americans need to either return there or ask for their money back.

I went to school once. You likely saw me, and probably thought I was a journeyman.

It was the easiest money I ever got, all I had to do all day was show up, , listen and then pass their little tests. When I went we got our books paid for, full EI benifits, a travel allowance set but government standards and $3.00 and hour per child for babysitting (I had 5 kids). Had to work a lot of OT after I went back to work just to maintain the standard of living I got use to in school.

School is a nice break. I usually try to finish in the top 10 of my intake at nait though. By week 4 I'm already bored. Its the same grind. I love the extra cash when I finish though.

I love school, but I find it fairly easy. Teachers can sometimes be a pain, but most I found have been excellent. I usually go January intake so no cold for me.

Well, since you are in the Canadian section, what do you have against Canada? Come out to AB before you judge.

For anyone hating on Kaboler, at least he makes threads to keep this forum active. If you dont like them, dont post.
