12-2 feeding 12/3
This came up in one situation on a remodel.
If you had a 12/2 NM home run feeding a GFCI, coming out of the box would be a 12/3 NM, one conductor which would be GFI protected and the other not, do you need to daisy chain the neutral around the GFCI to prevent losing power to the unprotected circuit if the GFCI tripped?
Basically, when a GFCI trips, does the neutral get tripped along with the ungrounded conductor?
I know that it sounds ignorant, but I would like to know for my own knowlege.
Thanks.
