Default Knob and tube

Let's say you have an old K&T system and are going to replace an old push button light switch. With no egc would you not worry about it?

I would make sure and have some heat shrink with me. When you open up the box (if there is a box, I've seen it both ways) there is a good chance the wiring insulation will crumble off on something that old.

I don't know that answer I work on big units not residential. but I'll ask around and see if I can get you and answer. What brand unit?

Jim

Sure, just run out and buy a DTC Inverter and an induction motor. You can achieve 300% of the motors rated rpm's

On the old K&T I have seen plenty of lights with no box but never a switch without a box.

Switch replacements continue to be exempt from EGC requirements.

Well that's the answer I'm looking for. I honestly did not know it. I am not as smart as I seem.
