Default 3M ScotchCode Write on Wire Labels. Why so Expensive???

I love the write on wire tags from 3M, http://cableorganizer.com/3m-write-on , but man are they expensive. Thats the cheapest place I have found them, but 20 a refill is still way too much for a 3 dollar roll.

The supply shops local are 35+ per refill roll.
Please tell me these are really like 5 dollars somewhere? Or that there is something just as good for a fraction of the price.

I know white tape is cheap, but its slow, and rubs off in pipe, and takes a long time.

Use cloth tape. I hate guys who write on white electrical tape. The markings never are readable and rub off/fade quickly.

Those are more identification for panels, do you use those in all your junction boxes? for pulling wire?

The big thing I like about the 3M wrap tags is they are perfect for pulling. And when labeling just fold them over to make a flag so its easier to read compared to when its wrapped for pulling.

Those woold be installed after pulling wire. Most of the time we can get away with scotch code number dispenser wires in j-boxes.

For pulling, we usually use an identification system such as:

First round robin - no tape
Second round robin - one wrap
Third round robin - two wraps

We then identify the wires at the termination point. All the numbers are lined up and clearly legible.

In the case of multiple control wires we just get more creative with different colors of tape.
