Default Impressed with Klein NCVT-3 and NCVT-4IR

I am quite impressed with the following products from Klein:

NCVT-3: https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/e...ter-flashlight

NCVT-4IR: https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/e...ed-thermometer

I am usually not a big fan of non contact voltage testers because they are fickle. I am also not that impressed with Klein electrical testers/multimeters/clamp meters in general. That said I find those two products work great at detecting voltages and the infrared temperature works as good as my Fluke 62. Plus the flashlight is nice and bright.

I don't know what possessed me to buy those testers, but they exceeded my expectations!

I have the NCVT-3 and have not tried the -4IR yet so can't speak for that one, but agree with you 100%.

The NCVT-3 has made a NC tester a useful tool vs a "general idea" type tool. The bargraph really makes a difference. Even tells you the battery % charge when you first turn it on.

Makes it a lot quicker to start finding the areas to start confirming things with my meter.

I like it. I liked the Milwaukee NCVT because of the flashlight but the button disintegrated after a while. The Kleins are good quality.

I have the NCVT-3. Like it.

I'm going to look for that IR one. Might come in handy. For sure I can run around checking temps for a day to entertain myself.

With Klein you have to pick and choose between their good stuff and garbage.

I was really on the fence about getting one of these. I like that it does both low and high volt non-contact detection, coupled with relatively useful features like flashlight or IR temp gun.

I just have to wonder how decent it is at any of its functions, though. I like quality multipurpose tools but most tend to just be mediocre at everything... it's fat, too, but this might be an indication that it does multiple functions well. If it could do all three functions I'd probably go for it, that's an unrealistic expectation though.
