Anyone on this forum own a veto backpack? I was wondering if they are worth the money, 200$+ is a lot for a backpack what makes them so special?

I like everything about Veto except their backpacks. They are far too heavy empty and clunky when on your back.

Look at Toolpak if you want a backpack type bag.

I've had two of them since the 1980s and they have held up well and weigh next to nothing empty. Not too mention they run @$100.

ToolPak 4 panel, geared mostly for electrical tools:

The 4th interior panel is a large pocket that holds a laptop of plans, the front outside has two large pockets that will hold an impact or meters.

I have the Veto and it's by far the best backpack that I've had.

I've had the CLC's, a Klein and the Toolpak. The CLC's were nice but within a year I tore up the bottoms and broke zippers. The Klein was ok but too small for me. The Toolpak was awesome after a lot of seam ripping to custom fit the pockets to my preferences, but like the CLC's I tore up the bottom. They all lasted me about a year each.

I've had the Veto since it first came out over 6 years ago and it's still kicking ass. It's a little heavy but it's a tank and keeps coming back for more. Whenever this one gives up the ghost, I'll be buying another.

Are you dragging them around on concrete or something?

Both of mine are over 20 years old, I hang them on the divider by the handles in the van and wear them to where I'm working and set them down and they show zero signs of wear or abrasion on the bottom.

The only abrasion spots are inside where some of the wrenches rub while in transit.

As for the Veto being a tank that is exactly why I don't like them, that and the room they take up when going up a caged ladder.

I had the original one and didn't like it. It was double the size of the Tech LC it was replacing, but had the exact same pocket layout.

The company bought me one of the newer ones recently because it was the only thing available and the bag I'd been using had failed catastrophically. The new one has a MUCH better pocket layout. The bag itself is still enormous though. It won't fit through many caged ladders and it's tight in most roof hatches. You have to be careful not to slam into stuff with it because it's incredibly bulky.

While I hated the layout flat design of the Klein backpack, I liked that it was compact.

The last place I would want a bulky awkward backpack on, is coming through a roof hatch.

But after trying to find a better way, I think the best thing for me is my original method: climb the ladder unencumbered and haul my trash up on a rope.
