Default Rhode Island Journeyman License Exam Application.

Hello! I am new to posting on electriciantalk, but have been here many times, especially after googling something electrical related. Thank you for allowing me in to be part of this online community and I look forward to all your posts.

Now to the important part... I have my MA Journeyman electrician license. I am 22 years old, and got the license just last October. People said the RI was very difficult and open book, so I wanted to try to get it while my brain was cooling down from the MA test. I applied for my Rhode Island Journeyman test, soon after, but was rejected because a picture of my license is not enough proof I have an Mass journeymans license. So what are they looking for??

Im trying to go to the exam to get my license or fail miserably at least, by the end of March. So before I send in my second application, I want to ask my fellow electricians. especially local New England ( and NY) ones what they mean by proof of license? I have the page of the application here to save some the trouble of looking it up online.

Nope. Here. I dont know how to upload picture, so website.

Nope. dont have 20 posts so I cant do that either.......

"7. All out of State applicants must provide proof of current licensure from respective state. Photo copy of trade license is not accepted as proof.

Can't you just get a certified/sealed copy of your license for a couple bucks from the MA issuing authority to send to RI?

I passed both RI tests (Journeyman and Master/Contractor) on the first try. But that's because I'm awesome and amazingly talented.

I took it 10 years ago now so my memory of how the test was is very rusty at this point. That being said, it's closed book unlike the tests in MA and CT so it's very difficult to actually study for. I took it with the attitude that if I failed it, at least I knew what was on it so I could prepare for the re-test. That didn't happen thankfully. One thing I can say is there are lots of trick and obscure code questions which you cannot possibly even study for because the book is so vast. A working knowledge of the NEC is your best bet is about all I can offer.

I agree. That’s how I dealt with the Journeyman’s in Rhode Island, I went in blind and hoped for the best and it turned out well. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
