In Ohio kids on job sites (many many of them Amish , some from home schooled
groups using "home school" as an excuse for child labor) can be a real problem.

It's not a "panties" issue or "grumpiness" either.

It's real common that the Amish send their kids to full time work
status at the age of 15-16 cause they stop school at the age of
8th grade. The others just claim their kids are being home schooled.

One EC competitor is a clan of Jehovahs Witnesses that does this. It's
a scene you'd have to see. They use an old bread box truck , back it
in and out comes Munchkin land with the crew leader being roughly
a 20 year old. (I've seen this from a distance) and have been told
it's a hack operation.

The job sites with these groups on them (usually carpenters) can be
hazardous to my health as well as my materials as they seem to think
the newbies are okay with using sawzalls with 12" blades on them.

I have had numerous homeruns cut right in half because a kid with
little to no training is running around blindly saw through drywall with
one of these.

Usually kids of this age like to goof off (harmless enough) and chase each
other around. IMO , this activity is what 8th graders should be doing at
that age.

A modular log cabin made by Penn. Mennonites ends up in Vermont . I didn't even know there was such a thing as a modular log cabin....

The Mennonites show up to zip it all together , along with a gaggle of kids in Mennonite clothing running amock.

All i could think of was, they should be in school.....?

I know several witnesses very well. Education is as important to them as it is to you.
They don't have clans. They go to church just like most christians do. They then go home to their very own houses and crack a beer and turn on the game. Heck, they might even go out dancing.
The only thing they do that bothers some people is they actually follow the bible.
The bible says to go out and spread the good news.
Something most christians do not do.

Most would rather take a political view of everything and use christianity as their excuse.

Now its entirely possible that witnesses may have a preference in hiring like minded individuals. Just like any hire.

John, you have such disdain for Christians, but get indignant when other people say anything about other religions.

And I say that as someone who completely denounced Christianity.

Sorry if I offended you John , but I have had nothing but weird

That would be illegal and county Job & Family services would soon be
up the parents butt for that.

The OP named Twistlock don't seem like a bad kid at all...I admire the
heck out of him for taking an interest in the field , but he needs to slow
down on the hot panel work.

At least he's not glued to the X Box one.

I've been shoulder-deep inside electrical equipment since dad showed me how a model train variable transformer would dim a trailer tail light he had laying around. I was about 4. I nearly killed myself when I was 6, playing in the backyard with an extension cord in a tent and an analog volt meter. Now why would a parent give their kid a meter and let them play with 120 volts on the wet lawn? I guess they wanted me dead.

When I'd say something like, "Gee pop, I wonder what would happen if we plugged that blender into 240?", dad would say, "Let's do it and see." I don't know if it was irresponsible parenting or awesome parenting, or somehow both. If I had died doing what I did, I would have died doing something I loved, which is the best way to die if you're going to die.

I say fk'ng balls out kid. That screwdriver ain't gonna vaporize itself.

Thank God you have a government agency called "Job & Family Services", otherwise children might never get raised. I mean, how did we manage the previous million years? I, for one am glad that tax dollars are hard at work shoving mind altering drugs down kids' throats instead of parents swatting them on their delicate asses.

I took my son out to the barn when he was 8 years old, had him lean over
and I swatted his butt 2 times with apiece of wood. That was all it took.
One time and he remembers it to this day. He was acting up and was
misbehaving at some place we were at...I talked to him a couple times
but he didn't know what behind the wood shed meant...until he
found out later.

My daughter ...different story. Job & Family services opened an
investigation on me cause she told her teacher I spanked her behind.
Yes , an investigation to include asking her if "Daddy ever touched
her in the no-no square zone"
S my fine friend from Alabama , your preaching to the choir here.

I'm not the brightest star in the sky, so I have to ask to be sure.

Sarcasm, right? (or facetious)

Other religions in this case are christian as well. I would stand up for any religion that was being falsely described. Even though I do not agree with their beliefs.
Like if someone said Methodists don't believe in Jesus. I would correct that person because they do believe in Jesus

I suggest you do some research as Jehovah's Witnesses are as christian as any other professed christian religion.
In fact they are very similar to mainstream religions you might be very surprised.
Now, they have some beliefs I think are crazy and wrong. But so does every other religion.
I'm curious as to what you know about them?

BTW. Anyone who puts their foot in my door is going to get at least minimum, a broken foot.
They came here a few times and after I explained to them they were just wasting their time, they quit coming.
But they were always polite and never pushed anything.
