Default Memorial Day Plans

So what's happening on the holiday to kick off summer? It's my wife's birthday, so I'm going to smoke some beef and pork ribs. Invite her parents and have a small party for her.

Rarely are off grid systems large enough to power a big heating load for very long.

Sounds like a very nice weekend. Happy birthday to the Mrs.

We don't really "kick off summer" here. We celebrate on April 15th when all the snowbirds and baseball teams are gone so we can have our geography back. By tax day this place has a population about 25% of high season.

I'm sure all the beaches up north will be swarming. Hope everyone has fun and stays safe.

After reading your post I went out and got some good food. I'm going to grill some ribeyes and make a chicken/ yellow rice stew in a crock over the weekend. I'll cook the chicken on the grill first to get it crunchy & tasty. I'm not so sure all that chicken will make it into the crock though. It will be cold ham & cheese w/ tater salad & mac salad for a light lunch. Maybe imbibe at the Lani Kai for a few rumrunners early on Monday for a toast to our fallen soldiers.

Now I'm hungry!

I went to the cemetery, did some cleaning up and found that the American Legion had set flags at the veterans grave sites, but had missed my uncle's. I fixed the problem. Crap, can't get it to turn!

Went to a BBQ yesterday, chilling at home today, having friends over tomorrow, and family on Monday.

I think I'll just go to work. The fallen men who we honor wouldn't mind at all.

I love long weekends but short work weeks can be brutal. We just had a long weekend so I made four days out of it. Wow, did I pay.

Had to work last night and again this morning. Handling the Emergency calls so the men can have their weekend off after 12 weekends in a row of work.

Refueling outage here at the nuke plant. No time off for me until mid June. Happy Birthday to your better half btw.
