Default Neil Peart

Sad day for RUSH, their families and fans.

I was hoping to see them one more time.

Best rock drummer of all time. Great inspiration to me. I will miss him, as the heartbeat of Rush.

RIP :-(

I think he was a great technical drummer. I won't say greatest of all time because there's more to good rock than just technical ability. But, I digress. He was really, really great. And I can't see how Rush could go on without him.

I found this online. Pretty interesting...

I read his book Ghost Rider back in the early 2000's.

If you haven't read it, or know what it's about, it illustrates the obvious reasons why RUSH went on a hiatus. Truly heartbreaking story.

Sad to see all the old time rocker's fading out. Well, anyway, we still have Dickey Betts.

Brain cancer has to be one of the worst ways to go. Who else has wondered if all the nuclear bomb tests conducted in the states in the past has anything to do with all the cancer deaths today? How do you explain lung cancer in someone who never smoked cigarettes? Or breast cancer in men? Or is the human genome predisposed to self destruct at random?

or has Alex Jones been right all along about the vaccines being full of cancer spores , since he posted video's of one of the top vaccine makers saying that's exactly what they had done - put live cancer cells into vaccines and sent that out to the public to test..................

Indeed, one the greatest drummers of all time.

We should also remember that Neil was the bands lyricist, and a truly profound and gifted one at that.

Quote:
"Freewill"

There are those who think that life has nothing left to chance
A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance

A planet of play things
We dance on the strings
Of powers we cannot perceive
'The stars aren't aligned
Or the gods are malign...'
Blame is better to give than receive

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill
I will choose a path that's clear
I will choose freewill

There are those who think
That they were dealt a losing hand
The cards were stacked against them
They weren't born in Lotusland

All preordained
A prisoner in chains
A victim of venomous fate
Kicked in the face
You can't pray for a place
In heaven's unearthly estate

Each of us
A cell of awareness
Imperfect and incomplete
Genetic blends
With uncertain ends
On a fortune hunt that's far too fleet

Phil?

Most kids with a new drum set start with AC/DC, until their parents invest in a metronome, then they start learning to play.

RIP Neil

Never got into Rush.

Judas Priest rocked me out in that era.

Yeah, that's a drummers joke. If you're a drummer or appreciate them, everyone makes fun of Phil Rudd because he only plays 2/4 and basic fills, and not much else.

Yeah, his net worth is only like 60M ... what a loser.

Good man all around.

Big Rush fan here. For 3 guys, they really lit up the stage.

RIP Neil.

Unless this is a joke, (which is untimely considering Neil just past away) you obviously do not know much about percussion.

Hard to pick a fav tune. Trees, Villa Strangiato, Xanadu ....

But for me playing live, this was my favorite Rush tune to play.
