You'd think with a whole electrical department they could've been bothered to add a couple boxes; nice exposed 120V screws on the bottoms of those lampholders for anyone unlucky enough to brush against it.

A friend of mine is a town inspector, I'd like to see if he'd give me some red-tags; I could take them with me every time I have to make a trip to these places.

Cool. Are they LED lights?
 Yeah, they're LED. I'd get an A19 version if they had one that was anywhere near the lumens of a 75W lamp. All theirs were in the 25-50W range. Who the hell lights anything with a 25W bulb?

Just as long as you rename it "Leland's Big Ol' Goddamn Hardware Store" ala Ron White.

a small town inspector tag a monopoly for violating the nec in a display, which might be repeated 1000X's across the nation?

yeah John, i'd like to see that too....

Call OSHA, it isn't safe working around an electrical hazzard like that.

They had a mock setup (unenergized) that showed a subpanel, fed with a 4 wire SER feeder, but they had both the grounded and grounding conductors landed on the same bar, with the bond screw in the can. They had it on display for all the homeowners to see and copy. It took months for them to change it. I called their corporate office several times over it.

...I really hope the guy who noticed got them to take it down. We need to be rather vigilant when it comes to stupidity....
Nah, I didn't bother telling anyone, because I figured nobody would give a damn.

I just unplugged them and tossed the extension cord behind a storage shelf.
