Default Electrical work in the Portland Oregon area

Who can help explain the procedure to get hired as an apprentice or helper in the portland oregon area? A good man moved out there and every inquiry points him to the area 1 JATC. It seems contractors are not able to hire from the street without some sort of registry.

Miller can help you. Or Eric can help you. Or greenlight can help you.

Call up IBEW Local 48 and tell them your situation. They'll instruct you where to call and what to do. You will likely be directed to call NIETC (which is the HQ of Local 48's JATC program) and start the application process.
