Default Flipper electric

Recently repaired some wiring from a flip house. How do these people sleep at night?

Yep. Leave it to a bunch of electricians to focus on what's not important...clearly we have the wrong priorities.

I know your being a smart ass... but this was probably inspected.....

On the flip side....

I bet cosmetically it looked good, raised the value of the home by 100's of thousands!

That's some smokin' action -- no doubt.

But...

Why are you involved with this fiasco ?

How did you become involved ?
Why did the owners call you in ?
Where there problems ?
Or did they just need some additions ?
How much work is required ?
What did the owners do when you
pointed out these bodge ups ?

Details details ?

This goes on & on & on and I doubt very seriously that
any of this was inspected by a local building official....
even if he were on the take...he would make them
get that crap in order.(someone in the AHJ would have
to sign off on this work..they're not stupid.

No...this was an example of a job being done by a
house flipper who follows real estate agents around
and believe me...they are not interested in doing it right.

I doubt they used an electrician .

I met one flipper 'boss' who ran point.

They fly in , secure foreclosed property & set up the job

Their crews were hopscotched from one site to the next, nationwide.

The whole idea was to hit a job with a few dozen grunts, and be gone before any authority realizes it.

Even building permits were forgone .....

They're back on the market under some nefarious name quickly, little paper trail for any investigative bureaucracy, mired in the right of redemption transfer

I originally subcontracted some work for the new buyer through another company.
Guy was having some walls moved and needed some switches and receptacles relocated. When I went into the attic I discovered several flying splices and gave him a quote to fix it.
When I went there to fix the attic wiring he had removed a lot of the drywall in the kitchen and it was worse than originally thought to be, but it made my work easier and doubled the price.
