Default Garage heaters...

Hi guys,

I have done as much research as I feel I can on my own, and want to be absolutely sure I have this right and safe before I close up the garage walls so I am going to run my plan and remaining questions by the pros.

I have a 20X22 garage with 240V panel and think that a 5KW ceiling mounted heater will do the job, but want to have a rough-in for a second 5KW heater in case the first one isn't doing the job. I think what I want to do is have the first one connected to the 30A breaker with 10/2 wire. I would also like to have a wall mounted thermostat instead of the built in one.

Now, I think the second heater would need it's own breaker because it would exceed what the first one is capable of. So, I would have a 10/2 wire run over to the second spot from the panel, with room in the panel for a second 30A breaker.

Hopefully so far so good. Now my remaining questions are:

1. What gauge wire would I need for the wall mounted thermostat?

2. Can one thermostat control both heaters, or would I need to have two thermostats side by side on the wall? I was thinking of having the wires run over to the second heater and either tied into the one thermostat, or left disconnected if a second thermostat is required.

I think that is it, please let me know if any of my plan above the questions is incorrect, or there is a better way.
