I want to start making a little more cash. Say I do handyman type stuff. Small remodels, painting, light fixtures, tile. What are the stipulations of the actual electrical work? I've got a very good entrepreneur attitude and want to start small and soon. I know I can't do certain things with out being a master or JM. I am in Kansas. Any insite is appreciated fellas.
I'm no longer a helper. I work for a company that doesn't require more than turning on a light switch to qualify. It's a joke. You need doctors note if you're sick or want the day off.
This is a classic case of if you have to ask......you are not ready. Many states require at least some formal schooling then real experience under a master or j-man for 2 to 4 years...all areas are different. I went to school for 6 years total, 2 years high school training then 4 years of night school while I worked.

Some states like NY and PA are severely lacking in requirements and accountability. I get the impression that KS is just as bad.
Check with your building office to see what the requirements are in your area.
