Post inquiring mind

Hello everyone, I just recently got back into the trade and would like to know what supplements, manuals, or books are there out there that give helpful tips regarding the trade? Also, does anyone have any recommendations on books that help assist you with taking the Journeyman Certification Test? Your replies are much appreciated. Thank You.

Mike Holt is the pimp.

Pictures are the only way I roll, I still have the Mike Holt 2002 picture guide to the code.

What helps most is floundering through an installation.

Manufacturers have online PDF's too.

I never heard of a picture guide to code, but I have heard some men read PLAYBOY for the articles

I looked at Mike Holt's on the john, and read Playboy articles in the garage.

B4T, you are a very insightful man.

Charles Miller's books- Illustrated guide to the NEC (fill in appropriate code cycle) is also a very good reference if you are out of sync with the codes. I like that one for review because it lumps everything about kitchens into kitchen section, everything about wiring methods in the wiring methods section, everything overcurrent into overcurrent section, etc, regardless of which chapter in the code the info comes from. Means you do not have to go jumping all over the code book he puts all the relevant (at least to a certain level, lets say enough to help pass a j-man test) info into one place for you to find it. I have found a few dings codewise , over the years, but they usually are minor, certainly he has a lot more accuracy than most field inspectors I run across.
