It's also wrong, if you take it for example hand to hand line to neutral, it goes right through you, won't trip GFCI.

Very true.

But they were looking for what "GF" stands for.

I was surprised that no contestant got it because it is something that has been in most homes for many years now.
Not really an electrician thing, but an end user thing if you know what I mean.

You realize that your response was not in the form of a question?

The sequence is "citation" and "query."

I was in a restaurant bathroom yesterday and they had a sign says "Employees must wash hands" and I waited like 20 mins and no one came to wash my hands.

Well over half of the people who call me about outlets not working do not have the slightest clue what "GFCI" means when I ask them if they checked their breaker panel and all GFCI outlets.

I have no doubt about that at all. I think it's just a point of perspective thing.
What seems to be routine to us just isn't to others.

Kind of thinking like:

"Hand me the remote control"

"I'm not a TV repair man dammit!!!!"

It's a meter of perspective, the vast majority of electricians would know the answer but I wouldn't expect your average everyday homeowner to know stuff like that.

It'd be like asking anyone here what the term IFR means to a pilot.

Intrinsic Failure Rate is NOT something I want to hear when I'm flying
