I started a new job on Friday as an upcoming lead guy at this small electric company. So, today after work I get a call from the boss saying he doesn't think it is going to work out. Mind you I only worked with him once on Friday and the other days with his lead guy doing a kitchen rough in. I wonder what made him change his mind. I got along perfectly with his workers and only had a couple trivial things mentioned to me from his men like using stack its and having lil too much sheath in the boxes. I was working really hard and we got the job in a timely fashion. I am thinking on the interview I came off a lil unsure of my abilities which probably made him doubtful. Oh well I think next time on an interview I will act like like I am the residential God when asked about capabilities as a lead guy.

He could also tell him a bunch of lies.. I see nothing to be gained from someone who just judged me not 'good enough' to work for them...

He made his point crystal clear.. why open up yourself to bad news that might not be true..

The OP thought he was qualified enough to fill the job.. all that matters in the big picture..

IMO.. he should just let it go and look elsewhere for employment..

I think he told you what the problem was, he wasn't comfortable leaving you on the job by yourself.
I guess you can't really blame the guy. If I had a business and had a gut feeling that things weren't going to work out I probably would do the same thing. No hard feelings, I left on good terms. I think I should have been more involved with the kitchen project we did. I just did the work but didn't show leadership qualities. I worked with his lead guy and didn't feel like elbowing my way into his position.
