Had a new vendor drop by today and give us some samples of some t8 led bulbs. Figured best place to try them out was at the house. Pretty quick retrofit and about the same brightness.

I just want to apologize, on behalf of electriciantalk.com, to those who clicked on this thread expecting free stuff. Haha What brand are they? Lumens? Cost? Energy usage?
Hahaha yea sorry guys, guess I should have clarified that off the bat. Not sure on brand, didn't pay much attention just came in cardboard tubes.

Here's the info on the tube and light.

Why do most of the crummy retrofit tubes not have a diffuser lens instead of a clear plastic one. Most of the ones I have seen are crummy at best. They need to be behind something opaque to make them bearable.

The ends on that one look better than some.

They did say they came in a frosted/defused lens as well but since the fixture already has a diffuser you are better off with the clear. I guess if you just had some utility lights such as the one I put them in you could opt for the other lens option.

Anytime you have to work on the tombstones, you're looking at considerably more time, effort, and dollars!

The point regarding voiding the "listing" is valid. We have enough issues with liablity as it is.

At $50 a pop? Just for the "lamp"? WOW!

My concern (fear) is there is so much cheap China junk out there by fly-by-night outfits. When they start failing, we will be left hanging! :censored:

Sounds like you end up with an unlisted fixture and potential liability. I don't see it's worth the risk. I'd go for a fixture swap.
They sell the complete fixture but who knows what that costs. I think the time to re cooperate the cost of changing out all the fixtures in a large office would be at minimum a couple years. Not gonna take the time to calculate it.
