MiGB around here exiting the meter pan in metal, does the ground sneak up behind the meter pan and in with the nipple somewhere? I can't see anyone faking a piece of conduit for a ground.
I would love to watch the guy who did the fake ground rod pipe explain why he did that in front of the Electricians board as they Revoke his license for life...:laughing:
I'm guessing this had been upgraded before and whoever did it just cut the water bond (conduit) off and set the can on top of it.
In the 50's, here, the standard method was to run a #8 in rigid conduit and attach both to the water pipe with a specifically designed clamp that would take the conduit as well as the wire.
