Default The State do Our Trade

I've always wondered what other electricians thought about the state of our electrical trade. Will we ever see better days? Or are they behind us?

We're still using electricity, so I've got no worries.

Given that the trade encompasses quite a few different aspects, anything in particular you're asking about?

Well the NEC is now printed in Spanish. So expect our trade to compete with those south of us.

I think those who specialize and have a wider skill set will fare better than those who do strictly construction or new work.

19th year in business and having a good year. About the same as last year which was my best. Just a small fish in a big pond though.

You are already competing regardless if the NEC was written in Pig Latin.

There will always be competition. You must rise above this competition or be them.

In general, as cutthroat as ever. The good ones of us come out on top. The company I'm with now is booming. We are hiring two more licensed guys and two apprentices. Tuesday after Labor Day is go time. Minimum 6 days between 48 & 60 hrs a week until Memorial Day. Giddy-up!!

43 years in the trade missed one day in all those years and so busy right now I can't see to pee.

Looks good for the foreseeable future.
