Next time you call the POCO and handle the whole repair. Wait the utility company to show to confirm your diagnosis.

You could also write many blog entries and craigslist ads with her name and her proclivity for animal companionship, just to make sure the google searches get directed correctly.

It pays off when (and if) the judgements come to fruition

Stick around, and "supervise" the utility repairs. Confirm the power is properly restored.

Then bill your customer for all your time to restore power. Whether or not you paid for the efforts of the utility is beyond the scope of the deal between you and your customer. It's none of their business or concern.

YOU were hired to restore the power, you made it happen. Same as any other general contractor when hired to build a structure, or complete any complex operation or repairs.

When my third child was born the doctor asked me to go to his house and look at a hot tub he wanted to install and for me to wire. I did and then sent him a bill. He thought that he shouldn't have to pay because he had successfully got my kid here. After trying only one time to get the money I created three invoices and sent one to his office manager and one to his partner and one to him. I told him that based on his refusing to pay me I was paying one half of the bill to his partner and withholding the rest because of the situation. I got a check for what he owed me. I gambled, but it worked. Good luck.

Out of state is always a credit card for us. With Square you can manually enter the CC info and sign it "Phone Auth". I think the rate increases from 2.75% to 3.5%. If you want to be very cautious fax or email a contract and have them pre-approve payments at specific progress.

no.

State laws vary, but in Georgia:

1. lien only good for 1 year, have to sue before year is up

2. house can be sold even with lien, seller can bond around small lien, very inexpensive
