"Whole house surge suppressor" has two different meanings:
1] AC power at the service entrance.
2] AC power, telephone, cable TV or satellite and internet lines.
Not that I know much about it, but seems like all the stuff you really care about protecting has more than just a power cord; I agree with Speedskater: TVSS ain't gonna do much good if it doesn't pick up the data/com.
