Default Thaaat’s all folks. I’ retired!

I officially pulled the pin this week and retired after over 44 years in the trade.

I started in 1973 sweeping the floor for an EC and ended up working for a consulting engineering firm designing hi-tech control systems. As an apprentice I served under some amazing J-men who taught me the ropes and some A-holes who taught me restraint. If it was legal I would still maim some of those guys!! Revenge is indeed best served cold. Spoken from experience.

Whoever said find something you love and you’ll never work another day in your life (or whatever the quote is) was right. I may have not liked some of the people or some projects really sucked but the actual work I loved.

The best advice I ever got was from a guy who said “Make sure you ignore someone who says to put your back into it. There are tools for that.” My health is fine and my back is fine!!!!

Congrats!

Now you can spend more time on here harassing homeowners and newbies! Or, my option, is to go spend some long overdue time fishing with kids and grandkids!

Congrats.

You'll find that the only thing bad about retirement is that there are no more 3-day weekends.

That's great. Be sure to get some "me time" but also stay busy. I've heard from some pension administrators that a good percentage of retirees don't stay active enough (meaning they don't collect that pension for very long).
And most of all, enjoy it. You've earned it!

@bill39 I did enjoy that your last "Working" post was a good ole fashioned "Ground up or ground down" post!
