with regard to addressing pre existing code violations...

If it's residential and integral to your scope of work , just
put it in your price and keep quiet about it.

Did your license come with a badge too? Mine didn't. The very best thing you can do is point them out to the owner, offer a price if it's appropriate, and move on with your own life.

Statements like yours are generally born from the enthusiasm of youth. If you get this twisted up about seeing code violations, I might suggest you start wearing sunglasses; for the health, you see. You're going to have a heart attack at an early age.

Well I guess you didn’t read the results from the situation. And in my experience 25years worth, I don’t think being enthusiastic about safety is a bad thing. I’ll leave the sunglasses for you to wear and hope you can learn to appreciate what a good electrician should do.
