3-4 years ago, I was building a machine gun range for the USMC. All these targets were fed with some direct burial 4 wire cable. Mostly #4 AWG and #2 AWG. We couldn't have breaks or handholes in the cables so, if a run looked close we had to leave what seemed like a bunch of wire on the spool. Well, as we were getting finished with the underground, the supervisor looks in the conex box at all the scrap and out of left field, gets the weird notion that he's gonna get in trouble for having so much scrap sent back to the shop.

(This is a true story...)

So he takes my old roommate and another guy, has them cut the scrap into 3 ft. pieces, put them in 55 gal. barrels, then uses a mini-ex to dig a huge hole behind the conexs

my buddy kept it under his hat for about 6 months til the supervisor started blaming everybody for everything he was supposed to do, and basically being a douche. So my buddy told the office, they went and dug it up.

It is an urban legend when they decided to make Lake Milford next to Ft Riley Kansas it was obvious the town of Milford would be abandoned, and underwater. During the razing of the town some army higher ups had a surplus of WWII equipment stored in milvans. Jeeps, 50's, M1's, 30's, but no ammo buried under the former town most still packed in cosmoline.

You know, recycling just wasn't worth it many years ago. I'm of the opinion that one day a business will start up mining old closed landfills (if they aren't doing it already).
Three vastly different enemies, but enemies who shared one common trait. ALL of them stifle free speech. All of them bully, degrade and terrorize those who hold opposing views and who peacefully express them. All of them are intolerant and demand “loyalty” to the leader. Michael Sand
