I wouldn't mind because it's for a good cause: to complete my apprenticeship. I do have references and yeah no experience but I've read it's not a factor

What's with all of the concern to get into local 11? You're a young man living in one of the biggest and best cities in the world. Set your sights higher and do what the other kids in LA are doing. Join a gang, sell drugs, and shoot people. That's what life is really all about!

If you attend the community college, take technical courses not general education classes. Look at certificate programs offered; you can usually turn one of those into an associates degree later with the addition of gen ed courses if desired.
