Those two have always been bitter enemies, so no, they never exchanged products. But Cutler Hammer has always (and still does) specialized in making parts and assemblies designed to retrofit into older versions of competitor's products. Even to this day C-H will sell you an MCC bucket to go into a Sq D, or A-B, or GE MCC, but that has all C-H parts inside. So when Sq D went from X0 to Q0, C-H released a retrofit interior for the old X0 boxes, because a new Q0 interior would not fit. Later on UL made it a lot more difficult ($$$) to do this kind of thing for panelboards and load centers so it became not worth it any more, so most people with a problem on an old X0 panel just swap out the whole thing.

Square D and CH both had XO lines until the early 60s I believe. I just pulled a CH XO panel from a church a few weeks ago, date stamped Oct. '57.

I had one when iI first came to Canada....in the North...only way to bring vehicles in to the Mine Site was over the frozen lakes by "Ice Train " .
Wait a minute....it was a pile of "sh.t" when I got in in '69 ! I had to learn about "white" bearings and polishing them in !
Thank god those days are gone !
