The part that hurts the most is that he has work in Manhattan for the next year and a half. So to me, these contractors only care about themselves. They use you until there is little to no work, then throw you to the wolves. They could care less about your rent, car note, family's ect. These things don't stop because work is slow. They have to be paid one way or another
You CANNOT be serious. Really, do you actually think you are this entitled???

Of course the contractor is thinking about himself. WHY do you think he went into business? His first concern is not you, sorry for the reality check.
I can assure you, if work is slow, his overhead is FAR greater than yours. Guaranteed.

I know and have know a LOT of guys who were union (and some not) that always did side work and even got other jobs off the books (like you). All dirt bags cheating the system.

I don't think that is what he meant. The OP is certainly entitled to his UI. No question about that.
It's the sheer arrogance to complain about having to actually do the right thing (attend the program) and take off work from his illegal and unscrupulous off-the-books job.

So I'm making alot more money now than I was making when I was working full time. But I just got a letter from unemployment saying that I must attend this Work Force program to assist me in a new job hunt. This really is a pain because this thing is mandatory and I'm going to have to miss work in order to attend this thing. Has anyone ever participated in this program?

Every time you watch the news and complain about those crooks, the poor on welfare, corporations on welfare, government waste, the 1% cheating the IRS, you are one of them, a low life theif.

In my opinion there was nothing partisan in the post.

Talk shows and whiners cross all party lines.

But if you think there is a problem with it your best bet would be to report it, not point it out.

Typical reaction. You are the only one that's right, and it's everyone else that's wrong.

I don't have to in fact i enjoyed his post.

You are the one who is calling out politics but when someone post something that clearly political that you agree with ,its just okay with you.
But if you do not agree you call it out and hide behind the forum rules to get your way.

Yet you still complained about it.

I simply asked the mods to play under the same rules we do. No more no less.

Apparently they agreed as the posts are gone.

I am not hiding behind anything, it was public.

For instance, I am a mod at Holts, a couple of months ago I made a anti union statement on one of my posts. I was called on it by some the members and they were right.

I admitted it was wrong and apologized for it. As much as I fully belive moderators have a right to express their own personal views I also belive they must still follow the rules while doing so.

It is really not complicated at all.

YOU were the cry baby that brought it up in the first place! Your attitude is unbelievable! You are getting free money through the UI system, but can't be bothered to take their required class because you are too busy working? I understand that you need to put food on the table, but abusing the system costs all of us in the long run! As an EC owner, I can tell that you are a cry baby and that's why you got laid off in the first place! Your mistake was using an offer by another EC to get a raise. Kudos to the EC who laid your attitude-problem-afflicted a** off! BTW, you asked for opinions, so quit crying to us!

Yes i used his post to point out the fact that you let that one slide because it has a left-wing political opinion and that is what i am trying to point out to you.

All the right-wing posts on this thread were deleted because you brought it up.

But the left-wing one are fine with you otherwise you would have called them out as well

Personally I would rather reply to a post that I do not agree with and see no reason to cite the forum rules to box someone into a corner.

As they should have been, however, I don't mind having a post removed, my comment was made in jest (Hence the smiley) but I won't argue it being removed. I would rather have the post stay there and the comment removed with a reason it was deleted from the moderator. Not really talking about this one because it was obvious why but as a general rule I would like to see posts removed in that format, plus it sends a good message of rule enforcement rather than just vanishing.

Troubleshooter:

The reason people are ragging on you is because actions like yours aren't a victimless crime.

One: Your employer pays UI taxes based on the percentage of people he's had who claim. The idea is to keep those claims low by not laying people off without cause. So you're screwing him by claiming money that you don't need because you're employed elsewhere. It sucks being laid off, but nobody owed you that job.

Two: Unemployment is not a source of personal income. It's a safety net. The payments go into a common pool administered by the state. When you take from that pool while you're employed, it means you're taking that much more away from people who actually need it to find employment.

It's illegal for good reason, and it's lame as hell that you come on here bitching about not being able to game the system.
