hi guys there is an alarming rate at which these type of drives are failing in our company.are we missing an important parameter?.in one machine alone in a span of 6months we changed two of them.one was giving a groundfault alarm which you cant reset even if you disconnect the motor.we changed to another one which after a period of 3months could not give any output the BOP just went blank.
apparently the same faults appear to other drives in other machines.recently we also lost an ABB 11KWDRIVE with the ground fault alarm.the delta and sinamics type we havent lost any since we installed.

the dc drives also from siemens these are worse they burn the fuses plus the scr in the drive. what can be the problem here?:no:

Ground fault alarms that persist even if the motor is disconnected imply that there is an internal fault inside of the VFD itself that is causing a severe imbalance in current flow. Without a lot more information, there is no way to tell why this is a problem for you, but I can say that there is almost nothing you can set in the parameters that will cause that to happen.

Given that this and similar problems appear to persist across various platforms, my first suspicion is internal contamination of the drives themselves, either from moisture ingress / condensation or dust, or both.

The Micromaster however was well known to have problems with the AOP (Advanced Operating Panel). They don't last long. But before you give up on them, double check the connections. If the connections of the ribbon cables are not tight, the display will cease to display, although it might allow the VFD to continue to function.

thanks jraef for your input.am just thinking drives must have protection mechanisms such as if its true a ground fault occurred then it should give an alarm, such that we can rectify the fault then it will work.
what are best ac drives make that you can recommend?
