Default Good Morning

Well guys i'll start right off by saying that i'm not an electrician by trade (although i'm seriously considering jumping ship). I do water mitigation and restoration. I do end up as one of the last go-to people before an electrician is called.

For the most part i deal with making sure that our workers are safe especially when demo'ing as most of the electrical we find has been "uniquely" completed. I am also one of the few people at the company that can connect directly into a residential panel if we need to run our power boxes.

This is just a taste of what we find on a regular basis. All things considered this is actually on the more mundane side of things. We had a customer with a light switch that was loose so they took a 3" screw through the side of the box. When they realized they were starting to get shocked using the switch they just wrapped a bicycle inner tube around the switch to insulate it and shoved it all back in the box.
